| DATES 3/29/13 - 10pm Blue Note NW 23rd & Western Ave OKC, OK 4/27/13 - 4pm Norman Music Festival Sooner Theatre, 101 E Main St Norman, OK REVIEWS "...Never underestimate the imagery a good audio track can create. Fifteen seconds in... all I could think about were Sergio Leone’s spaghetti westerns... a thematic journey that weaves its way through the sound of some great Americana artists, but is a solid effort even if you’ve never heard the pioneers that inspired it." - S. Underwood, TWANGVILLE "All the tracks are captivating, it’s feels like a pleasant stroll through a fusion of country and rock ‘n’ roll, excellent musicianship throughout the entire record, classic licks, harmonies, occasional bursts of spooky trumpets and beautifully toned guitars. Of course there is a Drive By Truckers vibe about ‘Say You’re A Sinner’ but not as dirty, this is a lot slicker. A damn good debut!" - Will Bray, AMERICANA.UK " As the first part of the album (yes...it is a ‘two part’ CD) opens with Never That Easy confident vocals, harmonies and the backing of a tight musical unit are this album’s strengths, as demonstrated on the 1950s influenced Only Love. The second brief instrumental Part Two leads off with some more gorgeous border trumpets as it takes us into the final reel..." - Jon Jobling, MAVERICK MAGAZINE CONTACT For booking and promotions, Email: GreenCornRevival@yahoo.com Phone: 580 - 302 - 0802 |
| BIO Green Corn Revival is the project of songwriter Jared Deck and wife, Jacy. Originally formed in the spring of 2009, GCR has been a collective of friends around Weatherford, OK, who have come together to create a cinematic soundtrack of the pioneer spirit. Jared wrote many the songs that would form “Say You’re a Sinner”, the band’s first album, in fall/winter of 2008. His “landscape” of eclectic memories and experiences from his Western Oklahoma youth became the blueprint for a new sound, and a new project. “I’d really rather not admit that the songs are about heartache” the "Holly/Orbison-esque" frontman shared charmingly, during an interview in autumn 2009. Even so, the two-part, 11-song album has been embraced by fans and acclaimed by critics since its release in September 2010. “…it’s about reconciling what you thought growing up, about the world, life, people, religion, love, etc., with what you think now… and how that changes you…” Having been labeled Countrypolitan, Cowpunk, Retro-Rock and the like by fans and press, the band prefers making up their own Western OK inspired genres, such as “Rodeohead”, “Shoegraze”, “Emoo”, and the ridiculous list goes on… These dustbowl kids hit the ground running in 2009, and have played regionally as well as locally, including many festivals, such as SXSW 2010 & 2012, NX35, Norman Music Fest, Tulsa International Mayfest, Sundance Access Film Music Festival, and several multi-state tours. GCR worked with the Legendary Wanda Jackson, opening for and backing the Rock-n- Roll Hall of Famer, multiple times in 2010/2011 as she toured her new record produced by Jack White, “The Party Ain’t Over”. Highlights included playing SXSW with the Queen of Rock, and opening for/backing her at her Album Release show in hometown, Oklahoma City, to a sold out crowd, in January 2011. Other notable musicians GCR has played with include The Heartless Bastards, Ha Ha Tonka, Hot Club of Cowtown, The Watson Twins, The Low Lows, Cotton Jones, Grandchildren, Somebody's Darling, and many more. “Say You’re a Sinner” (named for a line in the album’s haunting eleventh track, disco- baptismal hymn, “Blue Water”) has garnered reviews from popular music blog Twangville, Maverick Magazine (UK), Americana.UK, There Stands the Glass (premier Kansas City Music blog), NPR, and local love from the The Oklahoman, The OK Gazette, and Oklahoma Today, among others. The album was included in numerous “Best of 2010” articles and lists, including, The Oklahoman, The OK Gazette, OKC’s The Spy 105.3 radio, and numerous music blogs. Green Corn Revival has served as a collective of friends around Western Oklahoma, and has included Brandon Cink, Cora Gutel, Clayton Roffey, Drew Simmons, Ryan Houck, Natalie Houck, Kenny Holloway, Miles Johnson, Tyler Paul, Brett Burrows, Stephen Rozzell, Caleb Creed, and Kyle Burrows. |
